Achievements

The University of Southampton Malaysia (UoSM) is proud to celebrate the success of its graduates, who continue to make an impact across industries worldwide. One such alumnus is Koshesai Khosa, a Zimbabwean-born engineer whose academic journey began at UoSM and has since led him to a leadership role at Jaguar Land Rover in the United Kingdom.

Koshesai enrolled at UoSM in September 2018, where he completed the first two years of his degree before progressing to the University of Southampton in the UK. His transition coincided with the global COVID-19 pandemic, during which he took a gap year before resuming his studies.

Despite these challenges, Koshesai successfully completed his degree, graduating in July 2023. In September that same year, he began his career at Jaguar Land Rover on the company’s competitive graduate scheme in hardware mechatronics. Within just two years, he advanced to the role of Lead Engineer in the Body Exteriors division, specialising in Sunroof Systems.

Looking back, Koshesai describes his time at UoSM as transformational.

“Studying in Malaysia was my first experience living away from home. It challenged me to adapt to a new culture, to extend myself socially, and to grow as an individual. Beyond the academics, it was a truly enriching experience that helped me become a more global citizen,” he said.

Koshesai highlighted not only the quality of teaching and academic support he received, but also the personal growth that came with studying in an international environment. He credits UoSM with providing the foundation that allowed him to thrive in both his academic and professional journey.

Koshesai believes that students have the power to shape their own university experience.

“University is more than academics, it’s a journey of personal growth. The effort you put in shapes not just your degree, but the person you become and the confidence to chase opportunities you once thought were beyond reach.”

He also encourages future graduates to have confidence in their abilities:
“If you’ve worked hard, believe in yourself. If people like us who have put in the effort don’t apply for big opportunities, then who will?”

From his first steps as an undergraduate in Malaysia to his current role leading engineering projects at Jaguar Land Rover, Koshesai’s journey exemplifies the transformative power of education at UoSM.
