The Mechanical Engineering Part 2 cohort at the University of Southampton Malaysia is set to showcase their ingenuity and technical skills through the much-anticipated Dinosaur Project presentations. This event promises an exciting display of creativity and engineering acumen.
This year, approximately 50 students participated in the project presentations, divided into 10 collaborative groups. Each team has worked tirelessly to design, build, and refine their own unique mechanical dinosaur models, applying core principles of engineering learned throughout their coursework.
The Dinosaur Project is more than just an academic exercise—it is a hallmark of the Part 2 Mechanical Engineering programme. By tackling this hands-on project, students gain valuable experience in teamwork, problem-solving, and project management, preparing them for real-world engineering challenges.
Last year’s event set a high bar, with innovative designs and impressive mechanical functionalities capturing the audience’s attention. This year’s teams aim to raise the stakes even further, bringing fresh ideas and creative approaches to the table.
The presentations provide a platform for students to explain their design processes, highlight key technical features, and demonstrate the functionality of their projects. Faculty members and peers are eagerly looking forward to witnessing the culmination of weeks of hard work and dedication.
