On 22 March 2025, the University of Southampton Malaysia (UoSM) held a significant and impactful event, the Blood Donation Drive 2025, highlighting the university community’s unwavering commitment to social responsibility and public well-being. Organised in collaboration with KPJ Healthcare Berhad, Universiti Malaya (UM), and the UoSM Volunteering Society (UoSMVS), the event brought together students, staff, and medical professionals in a shared effort to contribute meaningfully to society.
The initiative was driven by the understanding that a single unit of donated blood can save multiple lives. With this awareness in mind, UoSM students responded enthusiastically, turning up in impressive numbers to participate in the drive. For many, it was a first-time experience, one marked by a sense of solidarity, purpose, and compassion.
Throughout the day, the venue was abuzz with activity as student volunteers assisted in registration, guided donors through the process, and ensured that the entire operation was carried out efficiently and safely. Representatives from KPJ Healthcare and Universiti Malaya worked closely with the organisers to ensure that medical protocols were strictly observed and that donors were attended to with the utmost care and professionalism.
In addition to its life-saving benefits, the blood donation drive also served as a powerful platform for student engagement and experiential learning. It offered participants the opportunity to develop soft skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork, while also cultivating a deeper understanding of the importance of civic duty and empathy.
UoSMVS also expressed gratitude to all involved, emphasising that the success of the initiative would not have been possible without the collective efforts of the student body and the support of institutional partners.
