Biography
Miss Rou Xuan Goh is a Postgraduate research student within the Engineering and Physical Sciences at the University of Southampton Malaysia. She graduated with a MEng Mechanical Engineering degree with the University of Southampton in 2021. In 2022, she started the PhD research entitled ‘Geometrical, inter-sheet and quantum capacitance characterization of laser induced graphene (LIG) with metallic nanoparticle loading’.
During her undergraduate degree, she developed a keen interest in understanding, building, and testing electronic systems which further motivated her to understand the fundamental properties of electronic devices and how they can be incorporated into useful systems in various applications. Her experiences from completing projects throughout her undergraduate degree in both the university’s UK and Malaysia campus led to starting the PhD project under the supervision of Dr. Ting Yang Ling, Dr. Suan Hui Pu, and Professor Harold Chong.

Current Research Project
PhD research: The research project aims to characterize and understand the quantum capacitance of metallic nanoparticle-loaded laser-induced graphene (LIG) and then evaluate its potential in the context of flexible electronics. The geometrical, inter-sheet, and quantum capacitance of LIG with and without nanoparticle-loading shall be studied to understand the interaction at the nanoparticle-LIG interface.
