The University of Southampton Malaysia (UoSM) continues to foster strong industry partnerships to enhance student development and career readiness. On 27th February 2025, UoSM welcomed representatives from Yayasan Tenaga Nasional (YTN) for a productive discussion on scholar support and industry collaboration.
As part of this engagement, UoSM highlighted its commitment to nurturing future engineers through quality education and industry exposure. The university is proud to have two YTN-sponsored scholars currently pursuing their MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The discussion centered on enhancing support for these scholars and identifying more opportunities for aspiring students to benefit from YTN’s initiatives.
A key topic of conversation was the potential for expanding internship placements within YTN, providing students with hands-on experience in the energy sector. These opportunities are crucial in bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application, equipping students with industry-relevant skills and knowledge.
In addition to the discussions, YTN representatives were given a comprehensive tour of UoSM’s campus. They explored the university’s state-of-the-art laboratories, engineering facilities, and learning spaces, all designed to support a world-class educational experience.
This visit marks a significant step toward strengthening the collaboration between UoSM and YTN. By working together, both institutions aim to create more impactful opportunities for students, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the challenges of the evolving engineering landscape.
UoSM looks forward to furthering this partnership and continuing its mission to develop skilled, industry-ready engineers.
