Assistant Professor, Electrical and Electronic

Dr. Jing Huey Khor is an Assistant Professor at the University of Southampton Malaysia and is the Deputy Lead of Connected Intelligence Research Group. She earned her B.Eng degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronic) with First Class Honours from Universiti Malaysia Pahang. She then received her Ph.D degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia. She was a visiting researcher at Yonsei University under the International Scholar Exchange Fellowship (ISEF) Program of the Chey Institute for Advanced Studies in 2021.

Jing Huey has been a principal investigator and co-investigator on several external research grants, including FRGS and MOSTI TED1 grants, and has published her findings in top-tier journals. In addition to her teaching and research duties, she also serves as a technical committee member for several international conferences, a reviewer for IEEE and Elsevier journals, and a guest editor for a special issue on “Blockchain and Cloud Computing for Internet of Things” in the Sensors Journal.

Jing Huey’s research interests include designing privacy-preserving protocols for communication between Internet of Things (IoT) devices and blockchain, as well as developing decentralized applications for IoT purposes. With a strong focus on her research, she has also been actively collaborating with industry partners.

Jing Huey has been diligently working to improve the security and privacy of communication between resource-constrained IoT devices through the use of cryptography protocols and blockchain technology. She has designed ultra-lightweight mutual authentication protocols for resource-limited passive RFID tags and LoRa nodes, aimed at public blockchain-based IoT applications.

Jing Huey has secured a research grant as a principal investigator from MOSTI under the Fundamental Research Grant Scheme to develop a lightweight anonymous authentication protocol for blockchain IoT networks. Additionally, she and other colleagues have been awarded the MOSTI TeD1 grant to work on a project titled “Intelligent Drone Navigation Under Tree Canopy and Its Deep Learning Aided Data Post-processing”. She has also been honored with the International Scholar Exchange Fellowship by the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies to work on the project “Ultralightweight Ownership Transfer Protocol for Public Blockchain-enabled Supply Chain Systems".
